Sharifa is a teacher and performer of Middle Eastern Dance. Sharifa owns Belly Dance Artists a booking agency for dancers, musicians, and catering. She performed at the El Morocco Restaurant in Pleasant Hill for 24 years. Currently she teaches ongoing multilevel classes at the Pleasant Hill Community Center and Centre Concord.

In a 34 year middle eastern dance career she has mastered 6 Middle Eastern and North African folkloric and modern dance styles, leading to 5 years of dance and cultural education seminars in Australia and New Zealand from 1988-1992, television and radio appearances, and two instructional and performance videos sold downunder.

Sharifa taught week-long belly dance workshops at the prestigious Rancho La Puerta Health Resort in Tecate, Mexico from 1999-2001. She studied in San Francisco with Jamila Salimpour, and in L.A. with Aisha Ali; and with other foreign dance artists such as Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fhamey from Egypt, Layla Hadad of France and Tunisia, and dancers and musicans from Morocco including Hafida Fuson .

Since l980, her multitalented Troupe Tangiers has earned three 1st place contest titles. In 1998 the troupe was selected from 120 groups to perform their Moroccan choreographies with their musicians Marhaba at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Troupe Choreoghraphy workshops, classes, and rehearsals are currently offered through the Rhythm Room and Pleasant Hill Community Center.
